When replacing a CV, rebooting a joint, or changing any front-end driveline components on a 100 Series Toyota Land Cruiser or Lexus LX470 it is important to use the correct size snap ring for the axle flange.

The correct thickness of snap ring (ranging from 1.8mm to 2.8mm) is selected by pulling the CV axle into the hub using an M8x1.25 bolt. The proper gap, measured with a feeler gauge, should measure at < 0.2mm (0.008") between the snap ring and axle flange.
