It's been well documented that the late model 100 Series Steering Racks have an unfortunate habit of releasing their inner tie rods in extreme situations. Some ih8mud members have applied blue thread locker to their inners but this method often makes removal of the inner more difficult.

The claw washer diameter leave little room to create a meaningful fold around the edges of the inner tie rod end. By adding a larger diameter claw washer, one can avoid severe damage such as can be seen here (inner tie rod failure video).
